After Energy Improvements

Energy House 13
The W Family, Diss

The installation took place in October 2007 and the W family are already benefiting from the savings on their fuel bills, without compromising on heating or hot water comfort. The family are now officially relying 100% on renewable energy to heat their home.

Mr W says; “The installation took a little longer than expected due to the involvement of different tradesmen working together but two weeks of installation time versus a clear conscience and a warm and cosy house more than make up for it. We are absolutely delighted with our installation and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending that more homeowners consider investing in this technology.”

Being 100% renewable means that the W family’s bills have decreased dramatically already. In addition, the lawn has recovered from having the collectors installed and there is a steady stream of heating and hot water coming directly from the ground outside at no extra cost. Mr W commented: “The payback on investing in a ground source heat pump in monetary terms will take some years. However for us, our decision to invest was based on more than just cost. We really want to feel that we are making a difference to reducing our impact on the environment.”

Official energy ratings taken from Energy Performance Certificate

Energy efficiency rating

Very energy efficient

- lower running costs

Energy efficiency chartee-53

Not very energy efficient - high running costs

The energy efficiency rating is a measure of the overall efficiency of a home. The higher the rating the more energy efficient the home is and the lower the fuel bills are
likely to be.

Environmental impact (CO2) rating

Very environmentally friendly - lower CO2 emissions

Environmental impact chartei-67

Not environmentally friendly - high CO2 emissions

The environmental impact rating is a measure of a home’s impact on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The higher the rating the less impact it has on the environment.
